Live LOVED. (Because you are!)

“He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
Will remain secure and rest in the shadow of the Almighty [whose power no enemy can withstand].” -Psalm 91:1 (AMP)

Greetings friends! We are switching things up a bit this week, as this post is part of Lysa TerKeurst’s “Uninvited Book Blog Tour,” which I am delighted to be a part of- along with many other inspiring bloggers! Thank you for joining us for this special edition 🙂

“In Uninvited, Lysa shares her own deeply personal experiences of rejection – from the perceived judgment of the perfectly toned woman one elliptical over to the incredibly painful childhood abandonment by her father. She leans in to honestly examine the roots of rejection, as well as rejection’s ability to poison relationships from the inside out, including our relationship with God.” (

If you are looking to grow in your relationship with God or others, we recommend reading this book! “Uninvited” offers a fresh perspective, is eye-opening, and based on Biblical principles. “Uninvited” digs deep to recognize the core of your perceived rejection, and how you may be applying that past rejection to current relationships in your life… you may have even partnered with untruth, and you may be falsely projecting that on others around you. This book gives practical ways to “Live Loved,” so that you are filled from a healthy place, rather than trying to seek approval or love from the un-fulfilling ways of this world. The book also presents scripture to meditate on, prayers to cry out to God, Biblical truth to claim over yourself… and a beautiful audio prayer to soak in and let wash over your spirit.

The part that touched our hearts most deeply was the concept of “Living Loved.” There is a profound realization when your eyes are opened to “How dangerous it is when our souls are grasping for God but we’re too distracted flirting with the world to notice… Indeed the world entices your flesh but never embraces your soul. All the while, the only love caring enough to embrace us and complete enough to fill us, waits.” (Uninvited)

Can you imagine?! We are running around: striving, serving, working, and worrying… trying to feel loved, invited, accepted… and God is simply trying to tell us, “Rest. Come to me. Be refreshed in my presence. I have everything you need.” If we don’t slow down, we can’t receive all that He has for us. We are “too busy” rushing and scurrying around, occupying ourselves with the busyness of this life… rather than preparing for eternity.

God is calling out to us, while we desperately run like crazy in the rat race of ‘the wrong direction.’ Imagine His heart. Imagine the pain He must feel and the longing for us to simply spend time with Him. He loves us so much. He wants to fill us. He wants to be the source of our strength and comfort… and if we pause long enough to seek Him and let Him in, He will meet all of our needs. We are already loved… but we will feel loved. We will know that we are loved… and we will stop reaching out to everyone else to try to fill that “love” void that only He can fill.

“Live from the abundant place that you are loved, and you won’t find yourself begging others for scraps of love.” #UninvitedBook

The principle of being filled with God’s love impacts our relationship with others, in that we will crush unrealistic expectations. We will stop pressuring our friends, family, or spouses to make us feel loved. We will stop “taking” something from them that they were not designed to provide for us. We will stop depleting those relationships. Instead, when we “Live Loved,” we will be so filled with God’s love, that we will be overjoyed, overfilled… and overflow onto others! And that’s truly being a good Christian witness, right?! We love because He first loved us! (1 John 4:19) We are able to love more fully when we are filled from the proper source.

So how do we walk that out? Abide in Him. Delight in Him. Dwell in His presence. Trust Him. Surrender to Him. Surrender your problems to Him. Lay it all at the altar. Unashamed. Seek His face in prayer. Seek Godly, Biblically-based counsel. Pray with others.

Begin each day by filling your gas tank- in prayer, worship, or reading His word. Don’t attempt to go out into the world on an empty tank! Otherwise, you’re going to try to fill your gas tank with things that won’t make your vehicle run at its optimal potential. It’s like making healthy choices in the food we eat. We put premium gas in God’s Temple, right? Well H-E-L-L-O Lamborghini! Eat that healthy food, and then feed your soul premium fuel (healthy nourishment) as well: The kind that can only come from Him. The fast-food and spiritual garbage that this world has to offer is sure to leave you empty, vulnerable, and alone on the side of the road.

So fill up first thing in the morning! And then seek Him throughout the day. Play worship music in your car, on the radio, in the house, or in the gym. Keep a Bible app on your phone. Set reminders, or an alarm to read a devotional. Memorize scripture. Post verses on your desk or mirror and repeat them. Declare these truths over your life. Don’t give up… and don’t run so fast that you don’t have time to fill up- you know an empty tank will only leave you hungry, broken down, and feeling like you’re alone in a deserted place… begging for scraps of love from others. You are forever safe in His arms. So stay there.

“With You, Jesus, I’m forever safe. I’m forever accepted. I’m forever held. Completely loved and always invited in.” #UninvitedBook
