Battle Plan: Prayer Strategy

“Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” Ephesians 6:11-17

Kinda sounds like we are in a battle, huh? Are you prepared? Since we are already on day five of our journey into 21 Days of Prayer and Fasting, perhaps it’s time to evaluate our Battle Plan. In Ephesians 6, Paul reminds us that these disagreements among us, these defeating and debilitating thoughts in our heads, these temptations of the flesh- they originate from the devil.  He has a plan to steal, kill, and destroy… and he doesn’t have any United Nations Sanctions or U.S. Federal Law to adhere to. He is ruthless, unrelenting, and will take whatever sneaky measures he can to war against God’s children.

So what are you going to do about it? Stop fighting with each other. Stop beating yourself up. Stop blaming anyone else. The curtain has been pulled back. No more puppet show. We are not fooled…and we are not defeated! The victory has already been won- so let’s claim it!

Maybe you have a “War Room” where you do battle. Maybe your prayer closet is where you fight against the spiritual darkness realm and cry out to God. Wherever your place, we challenge you to make it plain as day. Write out your strategy for the day, week, or even 21 days. Pray for your family, your spouse, your friends, those needing Salvation. Lift up prayer requests…and then keep a visible list of answered prayers. Pray for your neighborhood. Pray for your boss, your workplace, your city, schools, the United States, our leaders. Look up scriptures that claim God’s promises over the areas you are praying.

Have a plan. Most likely, you do not have three hours to cover the multitude of issues in this world. So break it down by day on a calendar. Maybe one day is devoted to friends. Another day could be devoted to global issues. This helps your battle plan become more practical. Like exercise, your body can only handle so much at one time before you reach burnout.

Here is a sample calendar to help you get started!

Take your focus off of your circumstances, the people you think you’re upset with, the thoughts and lies you’ve been believing, the anguish in your soul… shift your focus to your knees. That’s where the real battle will take place. Because now you’re fighting the real enemy…the coward has been revealed… and you have the Almighty God fighting for you! Claim your victory!

This is day 5 ‘in the life’ of our fast here at RISENfitness. We are battling along side you. Please let us know how we can join you in prayer.
